Managing Principal, Project Planner and
Programmer
Herb has over 30 years experience,
primarily on healthcare projects. His recent work includes facilities
for Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia; Tacoma General Hospital,
Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma;
Southwest Washington Medical Center, Oregon Health & Science
University and The Oregon Clinic. He is currently working on
planning and design for MultiCare Health System in
Tacoma and
Puyallup. Herb is past
chairman of the AIA’s Regional Architecture for Health Panel, has
recently served on the Oregon Health Division’s Regulatory Advisory
Committee, and is Board Certified in Healthcare Architecture by the
American College of Healthcare Architects.

Principal, Project Architect, Project Designer
Steve has over
25 years experience and has been with the firm
for most of his career. He has been project designer for many of
the firm's medical office and clinic projects and is especially adept at
transforming client programs into successful, cost effective solutions. Recent
experience includes work for
Providence St. Peter Hospital in
Olympia,
Southwest
Washington
Medical
Center, MultiCare Health System
in
Tacoma and
Puyallup, The
Oregon Clinic, and
Oregon Health & Science
University.
Steve is also a
practicing artist and is a member of the Oregon Watercolor Association.

Principal, Project Manager, Project Architect
David has over
20 years experience. Although a Pacific Northwest native,
he spent
the first decade of his career working in Houston and
Washington, DC on a wide variety of project
types.
As a generalist he follows projects from conception through
completion with total responsibility for coordination and management.
As Project Architect he is the continuous
link and
day-to-day contact for clients, consultants and contractors.
David
has focused on healthcare related projects for
over half of his career.
Since joining the
firm
in 1999,
he has been responsible for several projects including
work at MultiCare Health System; Mary Bridge Children's Hospital;
Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital and Salem Hospital.

Associate, Project Designer
Max has over
30 years as project designer on a variety of
project types including residential, commercial, educational and community facilities.
For the past 20 years his primary focus has been on institutional work. He
has designed buildings in Alaska, Washington, California, Oregon and
South Asia.
Clients have
included many of the major healthcare institutions in the Pacific Northwest Region.
Recent and current design projects are
Providence St. Peter Hospital’s Outpatient Concourse in Olympia; MultiCare
Medical Center’s Emergency Department, Cancer Center and Central Utility
Plant in Tacoma; and Multnomah County’s North Portland Health Center.

Associate,
Project Architect
For most of Rich's 30 year career he has focused on design
for healthcare. Prior to joining the firm he worked for a
development company learning the functional, technical and financial
aspects of medical office design and construction.
Since joining
our staff he has been responsible for planning and coordination of many
of our medical office and outpatient projects. Rich was project
architect for the $11 million Covington Medical Center in Kent,
Washington. Other recent experience includes work for Oregon
Health & Science University; MultiCare Health System,
Multnomah County Health Department,
Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and
Good
Samaritan
Hospital in
Puyallup.

Associate, Project
Manager
Gerhard
passed the exam for registration for becoming an architect
of New Zealand in 2001 and now has over 13 years of experience covering high-end
residential, commercial and healthcare projects.
While
living in Germany and New Zealand,
Gerhard worked with several award-winning practices.
Since
having joined the firm in 2001, Gerhard has played a major role in the
successful completion of projects for Providence St. Peter Hospital
and the award-winning Mary Bridge Children’s Health Center expansion.
Gerhard also served as
project
manager
for The Oregon Clinic tenant improvement portion, a 100,000
square-foot medical office building, in Portland, Oregon.

Associate,
Project Architect
Thane earned his
undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, and his
Masters of Architecture, Certificate in Healthcare Design, from Texas
A&M University, College Station, Texas. Thane was an AIA AAH Herman
Miller Scholar in 2005 and served as a People to People Healthcare
Design Leadership Ambassador to China in 2007 with the Caritas
Project. Focusing his architectural career on the design and planning
of healthcare projects, he is also a member of the AIA Architecture
for Health Panel, and frequently attends conferences to continue his
education in evidence based design. Oregon Health & Science
University, Portland, Oregon, Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Washington
and Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup, Washington, are just three clients currently
benefiting from Thane’s nine years of experience and passion for
healthcare architecture.

Associate, Project Architect
Keith is a
licensed architect in the states of Oregon and Washington and brings
to the firm over three decades of architectural experience in project
management, technical design and research, quality control and
construction administration. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah and his Masters of Architecture
from the University of Colorado at Denver, Denver, Colorado. His work
includes commercial, industrial, mixed-use, educational, multi-family
housing and healthcare projects throughout the western United States.
Keith provides technical leadership to new Giffin Bolte Jurgens projects for Good
Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington, and for Multicare Health
System in Tacoma, Washington. Additionally, Keith serves as the
Specifications Leader for the firm projects.

Associate,
Project
Manager, Designer
Kim has over
two decades of architectural and planning experience, including ten
years focused in healthcare design. She brings to clients a depth of
experience in design leadership and master planning, building consensus
with public and institutional clients, and leading multi-consultant
teams on complex projects. Since starting to work with Giffin Bolte
Jurgens in 1999, Kim has played a key leadership role in several
projects including a 75,000 square foot addition to Providence St. Peter
Hospital in Olympia, Washington and a 67,000 square foot Mary Bridge Pediatric
Specialty Clinics building in Tacoma, Washington. Previous to establishing her
career in the Pacific Northwest, Kim worked for several years in Paris,
France, and on national and international projects with Pei Cobb Freed
and Partners in New York.

Architect,
LEED Accredited Professional
Timothy
is on sabbatical from Giffin Bolte Jurgens. Building on his many years of
volunteer service work in such underdeveloped countries as
Costa Rica,
Haiti and
Bangladesh, he will
be committed to EMI (Engineering Ministries International) organization
until mid-2011. Timothy’s new role will be coordinating medical and
educational design and building projects throughout
Central America.
